MVP app development: launch your first version faster

An MVP (minimum viable product) is the smallest version of your app that solves the core problem for real users. It lets you test your idea in the market before investing in every feature. We help founders and businesses scope, design, build and launch focused MVPs for Android and iOS.

What an MVP is — and what it isn't

An MVP isn't a half-finished app or a clickable prototype. It's a complete, polished product for one core journey — like ordering food, booking a service or finishing a lesson — with the nice-to-have features left for later.

That focus is what makes an MVP faster and more affordable to build, and it means the feedback you get comes from people using a real app.

Who an MVP is right for

  • First-time founders

Validate an idea with real users before committing a larger budget to it.

  • Growing businesses

Test a new digital channel, such as direct ordering or online bookings, without a large upfront investment.

  • Early-stage startups

Have a working product on the stores to show early customers and partners.

  • Teams on spreadsheets

Replace manual workflows run on spreadsheets and chat groups with a focused app for the core task.

How we scope an MVP

We start with the one journey your app must get right. For a service-booking app, that might be: choose a service, pick a time, confirm and pay. Everything that supports that journey goes into version one; everything else goes onto a written list for later.

You can see this thinking in our in-house concepts — each one is planned around a single core journey, from Serviq for bookings to Cravely for restaurant ordering.

  • Define the core user journey and the people who use it.
  • Split features into must-have now and next version.
  • Design every screen in the journey for your approval.
  • Fit the scope to your budget and timeline before building.

MVP timeline

A focused MVP can be delivered in approximately 2–4 weeks. A typical plan looks like this:

  1. 1Week 1

    Scope & design

Agree the core journey and feature list, then design and approve the screens.

  2. 2Weeks 2–3

    Build

Develop the app and any backend it needs, with demo builds you can try on your phone.

  3. 3Weeks 3–4

    Test & launch

Test on real devices, prepare the store listings and submit to the Play Store and App Store.

Timelines depend on scope. Payments, custom backends and admin panels add time, and app store reviews can take a few days. Your quote includes a milestone-by-milestone timeline.

What's included

  • Feature scoping

A clear written list of what's in version one, and what's planned for later.

  • UI/UX design

Designs for every screen in the core journey, approved by you before development.

  • Android & iOS app

Built with one cross-platform codebase so you launch on both stores together.

  • Backend when needed

Accounts, data storage and a simple admin panel if your MVP needs them.

  • Store publishing

Listings, screenshots and submission to Google Play and the App Store.

  • Source code ownership

Everything belongs to you, ready for the next version or your own team.

After launch: grow from real feedback

Once your MVP is live, use real behaviour to decide what to build next. We design MVPs so new features can be added without starting again, and you can choose an ongoing support plan or hand everything to your own team.

MVPs start from ₹20,000. To understand how scope affects price, read our guide to app development cost in India, or learn why we usually build with Flutter.

Common questions

How long does it take to build an MVP app?

For a focused scope, approximately 2–4 weeks — covering scoping, design, development and store submission. Each extra capability, such as payments, a custom backend or an admin panel, extends that, and your quote spells out the milestones.

How is an MVP different from a prototype?

A prototype shows how an app might look and flow, but nobody can actually use it. An MVP is a real app on the stores that people download and use for the core task — so the feedback you get is genuine, and your first users can become your first customers.

Do I need a technical co-founder to build an MVP?

No. We handle design, development and store publishing, and explain technical decisions in plain language. You own the source code, so you can bring in your own team later.

Can features be added after the MVP launches?

Yes. We plan the MVP so later features build on it rather than replacing it. Many teams launch, gather feedback, then plan the next version together with us.

Will my MVP be on both Android and iOS?

Usually, yes. We build one cross-platform codebase, so launching on both stores together doesn't double the cost. If you'd rather start on one platform, we can do that too.

What should I prepare before we start?

A short description of your idea, who it's for and any examples you like. Content such as product details, prices or images helps, but we can work through it together.
