Restaurant App
Cravely
A direct ordering app for pickup, delivery and dine-in — designed around how a restaurant kitchen actually runs.
Cravely is a fictional product concept created by Programming Wizard to show how we plan and design apps. It is not a client project.

03The Challenge
The problem Cravely is designed to solve
Restaurants juggle orders from phone calls, walk-ins, messaging apps and delivery marketplaces. During a rush, orders get missed, customisations get lost, and marketplace commissions eat into every bill.
Cravely explores a single direct ordering channel that fits the kitchen's workflow: customers order exactly what they want, and staff see every order — pickup, delivery or table — in one queue.
04Our Approach
How we would approach Cravely
We would start with the kitchen, not the menu screen. The app is shaped by how orders are accepted, prepared and handed over during the busiest hour of the day.
User flow
Menu → customise item → cart → choose pickup, delivery or table → pay → follow live order status until it's ready.
Information architecture
The menu is organised into categories, items and add-on groups (size, extras, spice level), so complex customisations stay simple to manage.
Navigation
A persistent cart bar follows the customer through the menu, and the home screen surfaces offers, reorders and the fastest way to order again.
Business workflow
Each order lands in the admin panel with a clear status — new, preparing, ready, out for delivery — so staff can work through the queue in order.
Admin requirements
Staff can mark items as sold out, pause ordering during a rush, manage tables and offers, and see each day's orders at a glance.
Room to grow
The menu and ordering logic support multiple outlets later, with each branch managing its own menu availability and order queue.
05Key Features
What the product does
The features a first version of Cravely would need — and why each one matters.
Digital menu
Photos, descriptions and prices the restaurant can update instantly.
Menu categories
Starters, mains, drinks and desserts, so customers find dishes quickly.
Customisable items
Sizes, add-ons and special instructions captured clearly for the kitchen.
Pickup ordering
Choose a pickup time and skip the queue at the counter.
Delivery ordering
Saved addresses, delivery fees by area and clear delivery estimates.
Table ordering
Scan the table's QR code and send the order straight to the kitchen.
Offers
Combos, happy-hour pricing and coupon codes managed from the admin panel.
Live order status
Accepted, preparing, ready — with push notifications at each step.
Customer accounts
Saved addresses, favourite dishes and one-tap reorders.
Restaurant admin panel
Accept orders, update statuses and manage the menu from one dashboard.
06User Journey
How it works
The core journey we would design Cravely around, from first visit to coming back.
- 1Browse
Explore the menu
Scroll categories, see today's offers and popular dishes.
- 2Customise
Make it theirs
Pick the size, add extras and leave a note for the kitchen.
- 3Order
Pickup, delivery or table
Choose how to receive the food and pay in the app.
- 4Track
Follow the order
Get notified when the order is accepted, ready or on the way.
- 5Reorder
Come back
Reorder favourites in a few taps and use offers next time.
07Key Screens
The screens that matter most
Concept mockups of the most important screens in the journey. Swipe to see them all on mobile.
08Business Value
Why this product matters
What Cravely is designed to do for the business behind it.
- Makes ordering easier for regular customers
- Reduces friction and missed orders during busy periods
- Supports pickup, delivery and dine-in in one system
- Creates a direct ordering channel without marketplace dependence
- Helps the restaurant manage every order centrally
These are intended product benefits of a concept, not measured results from a live app.
09Design Direction
Designed for how people actually use it
Cravely is designed for hungry people in a hurry. Warm colours and food-forward cards make the menu inviting, while a persistent cart bar and short customisation sheets keep ordering fast.

Appetite first
Dish cards lead with the food, price and one-tap add — descriptions stay short.
Clear choices
Sizes and add-ons are grouped and priced inline, so there are no surprises at checkout.
Status you trust
Large, plain-language order states reduce 'where's my order?' phone calls.

Accept orders and move them from preparing to ready.
Tables
Manage table QR codes and dine-in orders.

12From Concept to Production
How we would build it for real
We start with the business workflow, then turn the required features into a clear product scope, design the experience screen by screen, and build the first focused version around the most important user journey.
Step 1
Map the workflow
Understand how the business runs day to day.
Step 2
Define the scope
Turn requirements into a clear feature list.
Step 3
Design every screen
Plan the experience screen by screen.
Step 4
Build the first version
Launch around the most important journey.
